Upcoming Events: The Season of Stoicism

Fall is the season of Stoicism, when Stoic Week, Stoicon, and many Stoicon-x events take place. Here are three I'll be speaking at this year. I hope to see you there!

Stoicon Women: Courageous Paths to Flourishing

When: October 1

Where: Online

Register at https://bit.ly/stoic-courage

Our 2022 theme is courage, and I'll be sharing some thoughts about finding a courageous role model. I also have the privilege of interviewing the amazing Karen Duffy about courage, the importance of role models, and her new book Wise Up!. Other speakers include Christopher Gill and Nancy Sherman, along with a practical coaching panel led by 10 prominent Stoic mentors and coaches. All are welcome to attend (not just women). Check out the full program and register here.

Stoicon-x Melbourne

When: October 29 AEST (Australian time)--that's October 28 Eastern Standard Time

Where: Online

Register at https://www.stoiconxmelbourne.com.au

This year our program focuses on Stoicism in practical life, with speakers from different professional and vocational areas, including business, law, and education. I will be speaking about Stoicism and positive emotions. The keynote speaker is Craig Challen, who participated in the Tham Luang cave rescue in northern Thailand, in which 13 people were rescued after 17 days trapped over two kilometers inside a cave by flood waters. In 2019 he was named Australian of the Year. It promises to be a very exciting conference!

Stoicon

When: October 29

Where: Online

Register at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/stoicon-2022-tickets-412537289137

Stoicon, the season's main event, needs no introduction! This year I'll be presenting a talk called Transformation: From Pre-Rational Instinct to Rational Care. This is a continuation of some topics I've written about at Living in Agreement, including rationality, care of self and others, and lifelong development. And of course, the conference is full of wonderful speakers such as Chris Gill (providing the keynote talk), a personal storytelling workshop by Kathryn Koromilas, two excellent panels, and more.

Stoic Week for Students

When: Anytime

Where: Online

If you'd like to share Stoicism with a teen or young adult, check out Stoic Week for Students. This program can be completed anytime, but if you're participating in Stoic Week it may be fun for the teen in your life to participate alongside you.
