The Season of Stoicism: Upcoming Events
Fall is traditionally the season of Stoicism, and there's a lot going on in the Stoic community. Here are a few events that I'll be participating in. Most are free and open to everyone, and I would love to see you there!
Stoicon 2021: Saturday, October 9
At the annual conference held by Modern Stoicism, I will be busting some myths about Stoicism and caring for other people. There's an unfortunate stereotype out that there Stoics preserve their equanimity by detaching themselves other people. This is completely false. Instead, what we need to do is learn how to care wisely. In my talk, I'll present a view of Stoicism fully compatible with caring for others, both in your own home and on the other side of the world.
This conference is full of amazing speakers and interesting topics, so be sure to get your tickets soon!
Houston Stoics: October 16
I will be speaking about Stoicism and parenting (and related topics) at this regular meeting of the Houston Stoics.
Stoic Week and Stoic Week for Students: October 18-24
I am so happy to be part of Modern Stoicism's new initiative: Stoic Week for Students! Taking place for the first time this year alongside Stoic Week for adults, Stoic Week for Students is designed for teens ages 13-15.
Stoicon-x Orlando: November 13
I will be talking about a topic I've been thinking about a lot lately: Stoicism, Altruism, Compassion. Please join me, StoicDan, Tim Iverson, and Chris Fisher as we explore Stoicism from my home base in Florida!
